Hand Pruning
In our last newsletter, we asked our customers for any common gardening or landscaping questions. Our staff went through the questions and picked out the top gardening question to share...

Q: I didn't have time to prune my Knockout roses last year. Is it okay if I prune them this Spring?

A: The best time of year to prune a Knockout or any other shrub rose is around Mother's Day weekend or early-mid May. After the rose has leafed out, you should remove any dead leaves, stalks or branches. This is also a great time if you want to shape your rose to maintain a healthy form. Make sure to never remove more than 1/3 of the plant at any one pruning.

Any other questions, please don't hesitate to email us at gardencenter@jimmelka.com

Sincerely,
